Little Mexican Cafe

Little Mexican Cafe is a good place for lunch if you have time as they can be slow. The food here although more expensive is better than the one in Atrium on Elliot . Would recommend the fajitas and the nachos.
They serve generous glasses of wine & cocktail's look good (I have not tried either!) .

Brooklyn Bar - Queen Street

Good food, but they have a reeeeaaalllly small kitchen so when it is busy the wait can be terrible.

Good seating, several pockets of areas for milling around and two separate bars.

A good meeting place / or starting place

Oh no .. Oporto - OR - Oh.. no Oporto

This is my realisation (yesterday) that oporto on Queen Street is gone.. :(

Dynasty Restaurant - Yum Cha

I have always had a great dining experience here at Dynasty, they do their best lunch service around 12.30pm just as the lunch rush is getting under way..

the crunchy prawn casings with yum yum sauce is great (I dont know what they are really called)

I have heard there is a better one down by the water front, but it is a bit more expensive..and further away

also this one (in my books) rates better than the one on Elliot street (dragonboat something?)
both in quality price and service.

mmm yum cha!

The Middle Eastern Cafe

The Middle Eastern Cafe http://www.middleeastcafe.co.nz/ is very good for both vegeterians and meat eaters. The food is not too expensive and full of garlic - which tastes wonderful
Also good if you want to have a private chat as not to many council staff eat there ...
Evverything I have eaten has been excellent

Tony's - Lord Nelson

This is the BEST "Tony's" restaurant in Auckland

http://www.lordnelson.co.nz/

This is the one on Victoria Street NOT the one on Wellesley Street.
There is also another "Tony's" on Lorne Street on the corner of Kartoum Place

BUT THIS IS THE ONE ON VICTORIA STREET
- from Aotea Square, head through the Bledisloe walkway past the post office then go down Elliot Street, cross Victoria Street and then go up the hill a little bit

Step back in time, the lighting is a bit dim but thats all part of the experience!
The food is devine, the steak and seafood are their speciality.

The garlic prawns come highly recommended. And personally I cant go past their fillet mignon or eye fillet steak..mmmmmm

They do huge portions and prices fall around the $15 - $30 mark depending if you go for lunch or dinner.

They also do lamb and chicken as well as steak and seafood. Unfortunately besides the soup de jour and the deep-fried camenbert cheese there is not a lot of vegetarian options.

But all meals tend to come with veges or salad and chips or potatoes.

The little booths sit up to 6 people, but there are tables at the back, but if you need those I would probably ring ahead.
